English is widely spoken in cities and larger towns.  The national language is Thai.

The currency in Thailand is the Thai Baht which is better for bargaining and shopping in markets.  US Dollars, Pounds and Euros are accepted at hotels.

Travel Tips
Imported alcohol is expensive in Thailand.  It is recommended to only use bottled water in Thailand.  There is a lot to buy in Thailand such as Thai silk, cotton fabrics, silver, woodwork and gems. In Thailand it is safer and cheaper to stick to shops which are approved by the tourist association.
